Total Restoration Example

Left. About all that was left of this lamp was the base and some of the hardware, which was badly bent up.  I had to restore the base and match it to the new hardware, then created the design on the globe to accent the design of the lamp.

Globes and Hardware Example

Right. This restoration consisted of replacing the top globe and matching it to the bottom globe, and replacing the hardware between the two globes. While the work was not particularly difficult, this was one that required careful matching of  colors, as the pigments used in the original are no longer commercially available. Over the years, I have developed sources for many of the original pigments and have had good success in matching colors.

Globe Replaclement Example

Below. This restoration amounted to little more than locating a Tam-o-shanter globe that was the correct size and shape and then re-creating the color and design of the original.  The lamp had sat near a sunny window for many years so the top globe was bleached by the sun.  In cases like this one it is often possible to replace the original globe with one of higher quality.
